Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State emerged the winner of a keenly contested election, after which it was time for the legal battle with the very group he stunned at the polls. The battle dragged for about a year, but interestingly, the man who was destined for the seat won again.

It was then time to run with the three years remaining on his term. He had made promises to the people that must be fulfilled. He had emerged with heavy expectations on his shoulders to deliver progressive governance to Osun. It wasn’t going to be a one-man show. So, Oyetola carefully assembled technocrats, as commissioners and special advisers from different sectors where the tentacles of the state’s development agenda must touch.

These are people who have made their marks in their respective industries, people who can translate a leader’s vision to actionable points.

In a very short time, the state began to reap the good fruits of Oyetola’s choice of lieutenants across different sectors. Health, infrastructure, education, security, commerce, youth development, information management, water resources, rural development, local government and chieftaincy affairs, are just but a few sectors where Oyetola has made strong statements in the last three years of his administration.

Oyetola’s ability to judiciously manage the state’s resources, especially finances, has been proven over the last three years. He has creatively and effectively picked his bills in ways that no sector is left out. Episodes of neglect of workers’ and retirees’ welfare has become a forgotten story in Osun. Vulnerable citizens are also feeling the government’s touch on a monthly basis through the Osun Food Support Scheme that feeds 30,000 vulnerable citizens monthly.

There are foot soldiers who run with the leader’s vision to ensure that these developments are delivered to the people. They are the commissioners and special advisers that Oyetola assembled.

These are not just “yes men and women”, but people who have been given freedom to work with the development agenda of the state as guide, to explore the possibilities of opening up  Osun for greater economic growth and prosperity.

So, when attention-seekers like Seyi Adeniyi decide to question the capabilities of Oyetola’s cabinet, discerning minds know the truth,  the facts and that the best thing is to educate men of mischief who hide in the dark to shoot impotent arrows into the light.
