Revelations have emerged of the plan of the Senator Ademola Adeleke-led government to sell one of the juciest properties of Osun state government in Osogbo to a popular member of the governor’s family for a ridiculous amount in the region of N100m, a government insider disclosed.
The said property, sitting on large expanse of land measuring close to one acre, is located on the popular Osogbo-Gbongan Road, opposite CBN, Osogbo, and is currently being used as an NNPC Mega Station on a leasing arrangement which began 17/07/2018 during the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
In 2018 when the mega retail filling station was completed by the state government, it had 26 nozzles and other state-of-the-art facilities.
To take over the property said to be of over Three Billion Naira (N3bn) in commercial value, and deny the people of Osun state their commonwealth, handlers of the current government have written a letter of termination of agreement to the authority of the NNPC Retail Limited in Abuja.
In a letter dated 16th November, 2023 and signed by Owalawi, G.A and Taofik Alimi, Head of Venture Capital and Special Projects and Managing Director of Osun State Investment Company Petroleum Company Limited respectively, despite the fact that the working relationship since the commencement of the partnership had been cordial and rewarding, the Osun Investment Company, OSICOL, after what they termed a business reappraisal, had to discontinue the leasing arrangement.

“Why should a rewarding business venture or partnership be abruptly terminated? This is strange and troubling! Is there a political or pecuniary undertone to such a decision? Who is the new lessee the government is considering for the purpose-built facility? What are the terms of the new lease agreement,” a real estate manager based in Osogbo, Kayode Adetimehin, questioned the government when this reporter sought his opinion on the development.
