First Lady Remi Tinubu Marks World Disability Day, Empowers Over 400 Vulnerable Women and PWDs in Osun
In commemoration of World Disability Day, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered over 400 aged, vulnerable women and persons living with disabilities in Osun State with cash grants to support their livelihoods.
The empowerment programme, held on Monday, December 29, at the Ilerioluwa Campaign Office in Osogbo, brought together beneficiaries from across the three senatorial districts of the state, cutting across all 30 local government areas.
Represented at the event by the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde, the First Lady explained that the ₦100,000 cash grant given to each beneficiary was designed to strengthen petty businesses and provide support for persons living with disabilities. She noted that the initiative reflects Senator Tinubu’s commitment to reaching out to vulnerable Nigerians, particularly women and persons with disabilities, as a compassionate mother to the nation.
Alhaja Fakokunde urged the beneficiaries and the general public to continue to pray for and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that his administration is determined to lead Nigeria to greater heights.
She commended the First Lady for consistently putting Nigerian women first and making meaningful impacts in their lives. Fakokunde also appreciated the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, and his wife, Alhaja Olaitan Kafayat Oyetola, for their continuous support and the opportunities created for women in Osun State.
She further called on women across the state to canvass, support, and vote for the APC candidate in the forthcoming Osun governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), stressing that continued support for the APC remains the surest way to enjoy more dividends of democracy, as the party has consistently demonstrated its care for the masses.
