The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the shooting of a member of the party, Taofeek Mustapha, at Oluode-Oranyin of Osogbo, the state capital, early today by the deregistered Accord Party thugs.

Information has it that political thugs who carried out the shooting of the members of the Osun State chapter of the APC, Mustapha, are believed to be working for Governor Adeleke’s Accord party as the attackers reportedly had insignia of the party on.

It was gathered by eye witnesses that Mustapha’s offence that prompted his attackers to shoot at him was because he was putting on a branded fez cap of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO.

It was learnt that the heavily armed assailants arrived the area in an unmarked brown Toyota Sienna car and shot sporadically into the air to scare the people before shooting at Mustapha in the leg and the thigh.

The blood-soaked shot APC member has been rushed to an undisclosed private hospital in the state capital where he is currently receiving treatment.

The shooting of the member of our party by Governor Adeleke’s hit squad for putting on the branded fez cap of our governorship candidate was barbaric, wicked and condemnable.

It breached the constituonal provision of the right of association by individuals to any political party of their choice without coersion.

It is disheartening that such unsavoury development could be encouraged by a state governor who is supposed to prioritise safety of life and property of the people of the state.

With this latest attack on our member by the goons of the Accord Party and Governor Adeleke, our party has been vindicated from the ruling party’s frivolous and fabricated allegations mischievously portraying us as the merchant of violence in the state.

What however, is strange is that the governor and his co-travellers would be the first to go to town to sell a dummy to the unsuspecting members of the public, to portray us as the agent of violence in the state.

We are demanding a thorough police investigation into the inhuman and wicked shooting of our member with a view to arresting and investigating the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
