In psychology, it is often said that “at all levels of human existence from a tiny cell to an ecosystem function is inevitably impaired whenever structure is defective.” Before delving into the crux of this political reflection, it is important to first extend a heartfelt birthday felicitation to the catalyst of Osun’s current political awakening the man stirring debates, inspiring allegiances, and compelling even his opponents to recalibrate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), on his 60th birthday anniversary in arrears.

His presence in the governorship race has become a defining factor reshaping conversations, mobilizing genuine supporters, and forcing political actors across divides to rethink their strategies. By the special grace of God, this time next year, his status will have changed for the better as he stands to be sworn in as the Governor of Osun State in the same month of his birth.

Many discerning minds who have closely studied the trajectory of the 2026 governorship engagement believe Osun State is on the verge of ascending from a political valley to the mountain of her destiny. Historically, Osun has always been a politically vibrant arena where grassroots mobilization, party supremacy, and personality-driven politics shape outcomes. The aftermath of the last governorship election did not merely produce winners and losers; it birthed a complex web of grievances, realignments, and renewed ambitions.

Today, the political field is being redrawn. The major players principally the APC and the erosion-stricken PDP are recalibrating their strategies. What is unfolding is a dramatic contest defined by opposing visions, heavy calculations, and a widening gap between political reality and sheer desperation by certain actors. With the echoes of past elections still reverberating across the state, the 2026 race is shaping up as a true test of Osun’s political institutions, voter perception, and balance of power.

What is clear is this: the 2026 governorship showdown will be one of the most intense and consequential battles in recent Osun history. The gathering storm is not one of confusion, but one of clarification where political actors, party leaders, and the electorate will ultimately decide the future direction of the state.

Within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the currents are deep and unmistakable. What is happening is not merely a competition of aspirants; it is a struggle between credibility and desperation, between public trust and political theatrics, between structure and noise.

The buildup to the primaries has already exposed significant fissures. Some aspirants are struggling to gain visibility and acceptance. In their desperation, the political space has become littered with:

* uncoordinated media campaigns
* unverified claims on social media
* aggressive propaganda and misinformation
* unrealistic permutations
* emotional manipulation tactics without structure

This trend reflects a worrying drift from constructive political engagement to attention-seeking antics.

Ambition is natural in politics. But when ambition mutates into smear campaigns, desperation-driven narratives, and frantic attempts at last-minute image laundering, it raises serious questions about readiness for leadership. Political credibility is not constructed through overnight PR fire drills it is built over years of consistent engagement.

A key miscalculation by some aspirants is the failure to build genuine grassroots structures. Instead of nurturing loyalty at home, they chase after external Influencers ignoring foundational stakeholders and local mobilizers who form the backbone of electoral success. Their campaigns, therefore, have become flashy but hollow driven by online theatrics with little substance on the ground.

No amount of digital noise can substitute for authentic relationships with the people.

These theatrics expose a deeper issue: an absence of political reputation, replaced by media stunts and hurried attempts at relevance. As Niccolò Machiavelli wrote, “Reputation is the foundation of political power.” Without it, desperation becomes the default strategy.

Yet, in the midst of this unfolding drama, the 2026 governorship race stands out as a defining moment for Osun State. As political philosopher John Stuart Mill observed, “The worth of a state, in the long run, is the worth of the individuals composing it.” The future of Osun hinges on leaders whose integrity, competence, and commitment truly reflect the aspirations of the people.

In this context, AMBO has emerged as the rallying point a stabilizing force, a dependable leader, and a candidate whose track record resonates across political divides. He stands as the aspirant most capable of securing the APC ticket and consolidating the party’s strength statewide. His political credibility, grassroots presence, public acceptance, and longstanding relationships make him uniquely positioned to unify internal blocs and reclaim Osun’s political balance.

AMBO’s steadfast engagement, trustworthy reputation, and clear-headed approach to governance will serve as the compass guiding him toward victory at the polls, and ultimately deliver the quality leadership Osun State deserves.
