Former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the last election, Agboola Ajayi, has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ajayi formally rejoined the ruling party on Tuesday at his ward, Apoi Ward 2, Kiribo, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Speaking at the event, the former deputy governor said his decision was aimed at contributing to the growth of the APC and supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

He said his return was also motivated by the need to support the EASE Agenda of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as well as Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ajayi, who previously served under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, said political differences should not override national interest, stressing the need for unity to strengthen governance and development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Legislative and Party Affairs, Babatunde Kolawole, described Ajayi’s return as a significant boost to the APC in the state.

Kolawole said Ajayi’s political experience and grassroots influence would further strengthen the party ahead of future elections, expressing confidence that the APC would achieve electoral success in 2027.

Also speaking, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, described Ajayi as a seasoned grassroots politician, noting that his return had further consolidated the party’s strength and unity in the state.
