Hon. Bukola Oyewo, popularly known as Bukoy, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives, promising quality representation and sustainable development for the people of Osogbo Federal Constituency.

The well-attended event, held yesterday in Orolu Local Government, featured the donation and commissioning of a campaign office for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the area. It also witnessed the inauguration of AMBO Ambassadors, a grassroots campaign canvassers tasked with door-to-door mobilization and voter engagement across communities.

As part of the activities, Bukoy and his supporters paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olufon of Ifon Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Peter Ipadeola Akinyooye, where they received royal blessings alongside the endorsement of palace chiefs, community leaders, and religious stakeholders.
Offering prayers for Bukoy and his political journey, the Olufon prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and success in his ambition. He charged the aspirant to remain committed to the welfare of the people and to always uphold the values of integrity, fairness, and service. The monarch further prayed that his aspiration would bring peace, progress, and development to Osogbo Federal Constituency.

The revered monarch also tasked party chieftains to work towards the emergence of an Ifon indigene as the House of Representatives candidate, noting that such a development would guarantee overwhelming and unalloyed support from all sons and daughters of Ifon, particularly as the party prepares for the August 15 governorship election.

Earlier, the programme commenced with a strategic engagement with the APC elders’ caucus in Orolu Local Government. During the meeting, the former House of Representatives member unveiled his 2027 ambition, affirming his readiness to deliver effective and people-oriented representation.

Reflecting on his previous tenure in the House of Representatives between 2019 and 2023, Bukoy highlighted his track record as a foundation for his renewed aspiration.

“My first outing in the House of Representatives was defined by commitment, accessibility, and impactful representation. I remained connected to my people, understood their needs, and worked tirelessly to attract projects and opportunities that improved lives,” he said.

He emphasized that his experience in the National Assembly has better positioned him to deliver even more tangible results if given another mandate.

“The experience I garnered between 2019 and 2023 has strengthened my capacity to do more. I understand the legislative process better, I have built valuable relationships, and I know how to effectively advocate for the interests of our constituency at the national level,” Bukoy stated.

Reaffirming his people-centered approach, he added, “Representation is beyond occupying a seat; it is about being a voice for the people, attracting development, and ensuring that government policies positively impact our communities. That is the standard I set for myself, and that is what I intend to sustain and surpass.”
Bukoy also stressed the importance of continuity and consolidation of achievements.

“We have laid a solid foundation in the past, but there is still much more to be done. This ambition is about consolidating on previous gains and expanding the frontiers of development across Osogbo Federal Constituency,” he noted.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kamil Tope Oyedele, a three-time member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Orolu/Irepodun State Constituency, described Bukoy as an experienced lawmaker with a deep understanding of grassroots politics and governance.

“Hon. Bukola Oyewo is not new to the business of lawmaking and representation. He has the experience, the network, and the passion required to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to our people,” Oyedele said.
He further noted that Bukoy’s decision to engage stakeholders at all levels, including party elders and traditional institutions, reflects his inclusive leadership style.

“This movement is not just about ambition; it is about service. From what we have seen today, Bukoy has demonstrated that he understands the importance of unity, consultation, and grassroots mobilization. I have no doubt that he will make Osogbo Federal Constituency proud if given the opportunity,” he added.
