The young woman at the centre of the controversy surrounding her encounter with businessman Tony Elumelu at a United Bank for Africa (UBA) gathering has received a ₦500,000 support offer, a complimentary VIP trip and an ambassadorial role from the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success.

The young woman recently attracted widespread attention on social media following her interaction with Elumelu at the UBA gathering, which generated intense public reactions and criticism.

However, Ossai, in a statement offering his support, said the woman should not be subjected to prolonged condemnation, stressing that the experience should instead become an opportunity for encouragement and positive change.

“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real and words cut deep. She made a mistake, but we don’t need to torment her daily; she needs our support,” Ossai said.

He offered her ₦500,000 in cash support alongside a complimentary VIP trip to the fourth edition of the Delta Social Media Summit, scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Asaba.

To the UBA young lady that was in the news, I’m offering you ₦500,000 cash plus a complimentary VIP trip to the Delta Social Media Summit 4th Edition holding August 27 at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park opposite Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba, Delta State,” he said.

According to him, the package would also cover flight tickets to Asaba, five-star hotel accommodation and a guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State.

He said the woman would also enjoy VIP access to the summit and be offered a brand ambassador role for the Delta Social Media Summit, an annual platform.

Ossai also commended Elumelu for his intervention following the incident.

Thank you Mr Tony Elumelu for pointing out the needed correction that will further strengthen respect in our society,” he said.

Appealing to members of the public to help connect him with the young woman, Ossai said: “If you’re reading this or anyone knows her, please ask her to DM me. I will give her a good time and a platform to tell her story.”

He said his intervention was aimed at helping the woman move beyond the controversy and turn the experience into something positive.

“Let’s turn this pain into purpose,” he said, assuring her that “she won’t be disappointed.”

The Delta Social Media Summit 4th Edition is scheduled to hold at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, opposite Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.
