The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new system allowing candidates for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results without visiting a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre.
The initiative currently covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), enabling candidates to complete the verification process remotely through the Board’s e-Facility platform.
Under the new arrangement, candidates are required to obtain a verification code and provide their National Identification Number (NIN) before initiating the process.
JAMB will subsequently verify the submitted result directly with the relevant examination body before updating the candidate’s profile.
Candidates can also access the service through SMS by sending “VERIFY” followed by their verification code to 55019 or 66019.
The Board said the technology-driven system was designed to make the process faster, safer and more convenient, particularly during periods when demand for its services is high.
According to JAMB, the initiative is also expected to reduce congestion at CBT centres, minimise errors associated with manual data entry and address some of the challenges caused by network disruptions at examination centres.
The direct verification arrangement is expected to be extended to results obtained from other examination bodies as the system is expanded.
The development is part of JAMB’s broader efforts to move more of its admission-related services online and reduce the need for candidates to make physical visits to CBT centres.
