Ilerioluwa Initiative Boosts over 200 Petty Traders in Olorunda

In a significant boost to the local economy, the Honourable Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, has empowered over 200 petty traders in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State with cash to enhance their trading activities. This intervention, facilitated by Engr. Olalekan Badmus (Omoolore), Executive Director of Marine at the Nigeria Port Authority, aims to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal and subsequent economic hardship.

At the empowerment program held at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign office in Osogbo on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Chairman Hon. Hakeem Okunade emphasized the importance of supporting women-owned small businesses. “The Honourable Minister and Omoolore will continue to prioritize the well-being and welfare of women, who are key actors in the economy,” Okunade stated.

Omoolore, represented by his aide Dr. Damilare Adeyemi, highlighted the potential of economic opportunities for women in the informal sector to improve livelihoods in Osun, particularly in Olorunda Local Government Area. “Empowering hardworking women in small businesses is vital for overall growth and economic development,” he noted.

The beneficiaries, randomly selected from all communities in Olorunda Local Government without favoritism, receives business support and grants to navigate economic challenges.

This empowerment program is part of Omoolore’s ongoing commitment to the welfare and well-being of his constituents, demonstrating his dedication to supporting women and marginalized communities.
