Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Osun State, Prince Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK) has today honoured the invitation of the Independent Corruption Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).

It would be recalled that BANIK was invited by the Commission following series of petitions written against him by the Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government.

BANIK, during his visit to the commission office in Osogbo, was confronted with series of documents pertaining to his activities in office, as a commissioner after which he put up his defences.

The petitions upon which BANIK was invited by ICPC relates to his activities in office as a commissioner and the allegations relating to his connection with one Toniade Construction Company.

Recalled that BANIK has been a consistent critic of Governor Adeleke’s administration, exposing its financial recklessness and ignorance of governance.

However, after the interactions, BANIK was granted bail left the ICPC office around 4 p:m, as he expressed satisfaction with the way the officers of the commission professionally conducted the activities.

According to him, Governor Adeleke’s administration intention was to shut the opposition, saying, rather than being perturbed, more atrocities of Adeleke’s government would be exposed.

He said: “We are fighters, there is no degree of intimidation than can stop us and we are committed to fight it to a logical conclusion within the tenets of the constitution.

“The truth is that we will not speak on any issue without having our facts and figures handy. So, Governor Adeleke’s and his cohorts should expect more revelations.

Recently, BANIK had exposed how Governor Adeleke’s officials used over N48billion for Government House entertainment, and how over N400million was withdrawn in cash within a day under the watch of Kolapo Alimi when he was the Commissioner for Local Government.

He also exposed that over N180billion local government fund had been received by the administration of Governor Adeleke with nothing to show for it.
