In a significant development, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, and the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye, have reaffirmed that a disputed land along Station Road, Osogbo, was allocated to the hospital for development purposes.

According to Dr. Afolabi, the land was allocated to Uniosun Teaching Hospital as far back as 1966, and the hospital possesses all necessary documents to support its claim. The CMD assured that all documents related to the land are well-documented in the Land and Physical Planning and Surveyor General’s office and are ready to be presented in court if necessary.

The hospital had approached the court and obtained a stay of execution order due to recent claims by some individuals, known as Omo-Onile, that the land was given to them by their forefathers. Dr. Afolabi appealed for peace and urged the claimants to present their documents in court for verification.

In a statement, the Ataoja, Oba Larooye, declared that the land was allocated to the former LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, now Uniosun Teaching Hospital, and affirmed his willingness to defend and protect it for the benefit of the Osogbo community. The monarch called on the government to provide funding for the development of the land, which would benefit the entire state.

Both the CMD and the Ataoja emphasized the importance of peace in Osun State and urged the claimants to work towards a resolution that benefits the community. The proposed development on the land is expected to be a significant structure that will enhance healthcare delivery in Osun State.

Dr. Afolabi expressed gratitude to the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, and the Ataoja-in-Council for their support, reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to developing the land for the benefit of humanity. The hospital and community leaders are optimistic about the project’s potential to improve the lives of Osun residents.
