A former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Price Adebayo Adeleke (Banik), has commended the Supreme Court’s judgment on local government allocations, declaring that the latest ruling has finally vindicated his long-standing position on the matter. He noted that the verdict had exposed what he described as the deliberate twisting of legal provisions by the state government for political convenience.

Banik criticised the osun state Commissioner for information Barrister Kolapo Alimi, as well as Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing them of intentionally misinterpreting the law to suit personal and partisan interests. He added that the court of public opinion should demand that Alimi relinquish his law certificate for what he called “incompetence and misuse of legal knowledge” in misleading the people of Osun state.

He further urged the PDP chairmen who have remained inactive since their removal from office not to allow themselves to be exploited by individuals promising to return them to their acclaimed former positions. According to him, the latest judgment should make it clear that the foundation built on falsehood cannot stand, adding that “ilé tí a fi irọ̀ mọ́ eeri ni yóó wó”—a house built on lies will eventually collapse.
