Governor Ademola Adeleke should come clean and disclose to the people of Osun State how his administration has expended the additional refund of N1.6 billion received from the Oyo State Government in 2025 as part of the compensation arising from the dissolution of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho.

It is on record that the Osun State Government under Adeleke has repeatedly politicised the dissolution of the jointly owned institution, often branding the immediate past administration of Adegboyega Oyetola with uncharitable labels such as “arungun” and “seller of patrimony.”

However, what the government has consistently failed to tell the public is that Osun State under the watch of the bumbler has continued to benefit financially from the same arrangement it so loudly criticises.

Following public outcry and sustained exposure by the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) media, the Adeleke administration, in 2024, admitted that it had indeed been receiving compensation funds tied to the LAUTECH agreement. In separate press statements issued on October 30, 2024, the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olawale Rasheed, acknowledged that the administration inherited N1.62 billion from the Oyetola government and also received an additional N500 million from the Oyo State Government.

With the latest N1.6 billion refund, the total amount received by the Adeleke administration now stands at approximately N3.7 billion out of the N5.6 billion it claims Oyo State has paid so far from the agreed N8 billion compensation.

If the Adeleke government has got this much from LAUTECH desolution, how has the Adeleke government utilised the N3.7 billion already received?

Again, is it honourable enjoying compensation arising from the divorce of LAUTECH at the same time criticising the Oyetola government for entering into the dissolution?

The government owes citizens a clear and detailed account of how these funds have been appropriated and the tangible impact they have made on the lives of the people.
