El-Rufai Back In Court After Mother’s Burial As Trial Resumes
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to the Federal High Court as proceedings resume in his trial over alleged financial misconduct.
He arrived at the court premises under a noticeable but controlled security presence, with officials maintaining close surveillance around the facility as the hearing got underway.
His return follows a temporary release granted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which allowed him to attend the burial of his mother.
It was earlier reported that El-Rufai travelled to honour the final rites of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt.
The release is understood to have been granted on compassionate grounds, although the ICPC has yet to provide full details of the terms attached to the arrangement.
As proceedings continue, it remains uncertain whether the former governor will maintain his temporary bail or be remanded in ICPC custody pending further directions from the court.
