Rein In Your Thugs, Ademola Adeleke, Osun APC Warns Amid Rising Tension

A call has gone to Governor Ademola Adeleke, his re-election campaign and the state chapter of the Accord Party under which the incumbent governor is seeking re-election in the forthcoming 15th August, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, to reign in the hit squad of the Accord Party which visible violent activities are needlessly heating up the polity in the state.

The information at our disposal has confirmed that some hired gangs of imported thugs who have been working in cahoot with some of the equally hired local political thugs have started their onslaught on some innocent political opposition members and supporters of the APC with the massive destruction of our campaign billboards, posters and needless attacks on some of our members and supporters putting on the customized fez caps of our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

The use of maximum violence to intimidate our members and supporters which Governor Adeleke and his co-travellers used before the 2022 governorship election which resulted into the killings of no fewer than 30 members and supporters of our members out of whom about 17 of them were in Ijesa-land, is now being replayed by the political strategists of the Accord Party in Osun State.

Any election in a democratic setting should be devoid of a do-or-die affair and should not be equated with the blood of any human being for any reason under the sun.

The drum of war laced with make-believe stories to score unmerited political sympathy and advantage have been the invented constant political campaign stratagem of those managing the difficult campaign endeavours of Governor Adeleke whose imminent defeat in the election has been causing him ceaseless sleeping nights.

The campaign team of the outgoing Governor Adeleke has not pretended by its actions and inactions that its mission in politics is not sportsmanlike but a do-or-die affair for their candidate whose political capital has drastically reduced in quantum based on the totality of his unenviable and abysmal score card in the office for close to four years of his misadventure on the political leadership of the state.

We watched with dismay on a local television programme in the state today how, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, a supposed distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who is functioning as Director-general of the re-election campaign bid of Governor Adeleke, could be so lacking in competence and tact by weaving up an invented story to implicate our governorship candidate in the murder investigation of the young man who was mysteriously killed in Ikire, Aiyedaade Local Government Council Area of the state few days ago.

If Oyewumi could be wicked and inconsiderate enough to have resulted to concocting a murder story against Oyebamiji whom he called his friend on the programme, one wonders what his avowed enemies would need to suffer in his hands all in the name of politics?

Democratic politics and politicking ideally should be devoid of violence and any form of violence and it should be about the constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights of the citizenry.

It is needless for Governor Adeleke and his co-travellers to be ground standing or causing avoidable cataclysm over his rejection by the people in Osun State who have found out that his promised best before the 2022 elections is grossly inadequate for the development of the state.

Governor Adeleke and his cohorts should be reminded that just the way every company has its formation stage and post-formation stage, this has also necessitated its winding up stage that could be likened to the current political stage of Mr. Adeleke who should be tydying up his bag and baggage in readiness for his imminent exit from the Okefia Government House, Osogbo.

Akogun Oyewumi, Hon Bamidele Salam, Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, and other political marketers of their most difficult product ever in the political history of this nation should take solace in the fact that the winning and the losing of an election is a systemic process which is only validated only on the day of the election.

For the upteenth time, we won’t fail to pointedly tell the Accord Party handlers in Osun State that it’s wicked, inconsiderate and undignified for any worthy human being to play a dirty politics with the killing of a fellow human being.

What would it take away from the motormouthed Accord Party’s propagandists to play by the rules and allow the police to do their job by utterly submitting to the constitutional duties to investigate such crime instead of weaponising same to gain an unmerited political sympathy and advantage which has become an impossible utopia?

In line with the philosophy of our party, no matter the provocation of the disgruntled elements in the outgoing Governor Adeleke’s administration, our ever-resourceful and pragmatic governorship candidate in the forthcoming 15th August, 2026 election, would not, for any reason, shed his toga of non-violence in his constitutional approach to be the next governor of our dear state in order to restore its lost glory.
