Osun APC Accuses Adeleke Family of Fabricating Vote-Buying Claims, Alleges State-Sponsored Coercion and Electoral Manipulation
The Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has strongly condemned the wildly contradictory and inflammatory allegations made by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s elder brother, Dr Deji Adeleke and his son, David Adeleke (Davido), regarding alleged vote-buying expenditures by our party.
Within a span of less than 24 hours, Dr Deji Adeleke publicly claimed the APC spent ₦70 billion on vote buying, only for his son, Davido, to baselessly inflate the figure to ₦120 billion.
These laughable contradictions expose the complete falsehood of their claims. APC states that these figures are entirely fabricated in a desperate attempt to malign the party and cover the political devilry perpetrated by the Adeleke government during the election.
Ordinarily, the Osun APC Campaign Council would have allowed these reckless statements to slide at this time, however, we owe it to the public to set the record straight and ensure that such blatant falsehoods do not sink into the public consciousness.
While David Adeleke busybodies on social media with imaginary numbers, he conveniently forgets to tell the public about the actual, documented electoral manipulation that happened within his own family.
It was his uncle, the Governor, who actively coerced voters by using state funds to pay sudden, politically motivated stipends to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and civil servants directly from the state treasury.
There are several cases of innocent voters subjected to oath-taking sessions, handing them paltry sum and manipulating them to curse themselves should they fail to vote Adeleke at the polls.
What is more disgusting than the fact that many Osun citizens were forced to swear to traditional oaths before receiving financial inducements to vote for the Accord Party?
Another emerging revelation from our field agents has confirmed our fears the that the election was heavily manipulated to favour the incumbent governor. For instance, in Ede where INEC claimed Governor Adeleke led with a margin of 45,000, some of our agents were threatened with guns, charms and other dangerous weapons, even in the presence of law enforcement agents, to allow for doctoring of election figures and thumbprinting and stuffing of unused ballot papers.
The events following the pyrrhic victory of Adeleke have clearly shown that the mass of Osun people preferred the Candidate of our party, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji ( AMBO) to the incumbent governor whose regime has become that of terror and financial recklessness. Save for few Accord party supporters who are on the streets jubilating, many Osun people are indoors, fearing that the Adeleke janjaweeds are on outside to visit anger on them for choosing to identifying with our party.
Citizens are looking melancholic, mourning that the re-election of Adeleke will take the state back to the stone age where, according to the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes, “life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short” when the political authority can not maintain peace or give good leadership.
If Adeleke truly won the popular votes of the people, his supporters will not be out unleashing mayhem on the people for exercising their franchise.
Our party, APC, is a disciplined, law-abiding party. We are happy that we ran an issued-based campaign and thousands of Osun people identified with us by voting for our party on August 15.
We are confident that in the fullest of time, the mass rigging and electoral manipulation that characterized the Saturday’s election will be known to the world.
Our party will legally and constitutionally defend the mandate freely given to us by the Osun people, which the anti-democratic elements falsified. No amount of propaganda by the Adeleke family or their lying machines will deter us.
