Osogbo, Osun State — Students and teachers across 50 secondary schools in Osogbo Federal Constituency have commended the ITK Foundation for its initiative to distribute 100,000 free exercise books to students across the constituency.
The education support programme, spearheaded by the foundation associated with Hon. Ibrahim Taofeeq Kayode (ITK), the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo and Orolu Federal Constituency, is aimed at supporting students and easing the financial burden on parents and guardians.
The exercise books were distributed to students in Senior Secondary School classes across selected schools in the constituency.
Speaking on the initiative, a student who benefited from the programme described the gesture as timely, noting that the provision of exercise books would help students concentrate more on their studies.
“We are very happy about this gesture. Exercise books are things we need every day in school, and receiving them for free will reduce the burden on our parents. We appreciate the ITK Foundation for remembering students like us.”
A teacher at one of the beneficiary schools also praised the initiative, describing educational support programmes of this nature as valuable to both students and parents.
“This is a meaningful intervention. Many parents have several financial responsibilities, and providing essential learning materials can make a difference. We appreciate the ITK Foundation for supporting education in our schools.”
Another teacher said the gesture could encourage students to take their academic work more seriously.
“When students have the necessary materials for learning, it creates a better environment for them to participate in classroom activities. We commend the foundation for this initiative and hope that similar programmes will continue.”
A school authority, speaking on behalf of one of the beneficiary schools, described the initiative as a welcome contribution to education.
“We appreciate the ITK Foundation for extending this support to our students. Education requires collective responsibility, and initiatives that provide learning materials directly to students are commendable. We are grateful for the gesture.”
The foundation said the exercise book distribution forms part of its commitment to supporting education and complementing existing efforts to improve access to learning materials for students.
Speaking on the programme, Hon. Ibrahim Taofeeq Kayode, popularly known as ITK, reaffirmed the importance of investing in young people and supporting students at the grassroots.
He said education remains a critical component of community development and expressed his commitment to initiatives that can positively affect students across Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo and Orolu.
