2027: APC Chieftain Urges Wike to Mend Fences With APC Governors, Focus on Governance

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance (AMA), Yakubu Sani, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to mend fences with APC governors to promote party unity and political stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sani made the call in a statement issued at the weekend in Abuja, urging the minister to adopt constructive political engagement with party leaders.

The advice comes amid reported differences between Wike and members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), chaired by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Sani said sustained political disagreements could affect party cohesion as the APC prepares for the 2027 elections.

He urged Wike to emulate Uzodimma, whom he described as focused on governance and party organisation without engaging in public exchanges with political leaders.

Wike should learn from Uzodimma. The Imo governor is working and organising quietly without abusing anybody. He is concentrating on governance, delivering projects and organising the largest support base for the President,” Sani said.

Sani reminded Wike that his primary responsibility in the FCT was to implement the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu gave Wike a job to do in Abuja. He should concentrate on that job. Let the quality of his work speak for him instead of using every commissioning ceremony to attack APC governors who are committed to Tinubu’s re-election,” he added.

Beyond infrastructure, the APC chieftain urged the FCT Administration to focus on institutional efficiency and the welfare of civil servants.

He also called for greater attention to public water supply, waste management, traffic regulation and the working conditions of public servants in the nation’s capital.

While Wike is building roads and bridges, he should also be asking what is happening to the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers and civil servants in the FCT,” Sani noted. “Many FCT residents don’t have water, while motorists compete with refuse dumps for space on major roads in the city. This leads to obstruction as vehicles are parked indiscriminately on motorways.”

“You cannot build beautiful roads and bridges and ignore the people who teach our children, treat our sick and run the machinery of the government. Their welfare should also be a priority,” he concluded.

Sani emphasized that maintaining harmonious working relations with APC governors and prioritizing holistic governance in Abuja would strengthen Wike’s political standing and support the ruling party’s strategic goals ahead of the 2027 elections.
