Ondo PDP Youths Urge Secondus To Caution The Deputy Governor
The youths of the People Democratic Party in Ondo state have called on the national chairman of the party Prince Uche Secondus and the state commissioner of Police Salami Bolaji to caution the Deputy Governor of the state Hon. Agboola Ajayi not to create trouble and unrest in the party as it gets ready to elect its candidate for the forthcoming election.
Speaking under the auspices of Democratic Reformation Force (DRF) the youths said Ajayi has recruited ex-militants, some members of the All Progressive Congress and some illegal delegates to Akure the state capital for the purpose of disrupting the party primary election coming up on Wednesday.
The youths also accused Ajayi of trying to rig the primary election through fake accreditation register after the party’s leadership rejected the doctored delegate list.
The coordinator of the DRF in Ondo state, Ojo Olatunji said Ajayi intension is to induce members of the electoral committee that would be assigned by the chairman of the primary electoral committee to do the accreditation of eligible voters with huge amount of money so that they would use his own fake register for the accreditation.
Olatunji urged Secondus to call Ajayi to order to order to avert unnecessary crises in the state.
Ajayi has decided to produce a register with delegates names across the various wards of Ondo State which he intends to give members of the committee that will be at the gate for accreditation. Already, some of the fake delegates are being mobilized to Akure, the state capital”, the group added.
“We also call on the PDP primary electoral committee led by His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwanyi to be aware of this new plan by Ajayi; and we appeal to him to warn all the members of his panel not to compromise themselves because the consequences of being compromised will be severe.
“We also call on the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to warn Agboola Ajayi not to create unrest in Ondo State.
“We remain resolute to resist any form of rigging and manipulation and we will not hesitate to deal with anyone culpable of trying to perpetrate electoral rigging in this PDP primary.
“The leaders of the party should do everything possible to investigate this new device allegedly introduced by Ajayi and ensure that a free, fair and credible election is held in Ondo State tomorrow,” the group further said.
But Ajayi who warned his supporters
against making disparaging comments on his opponents said he was focused on getting the PDP ticket.
Speaking through his the Director-General of his Campaign Organisation, Dr Kola Ademujimi, Ajayi said the ultimate goal was to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).
According to him; “The comment about Ajayi being a new member of the PDP was not correct as he was a foundation member of the party.
“We will uphold the tenets of democracy before, during and after the party’s primary fixed for Wednesday, and the general election fixed for Oct. 10.
“Our goal is to convince committed and patriotic party faithfuls to entrust the mandate in Ajayi’s hand.
“From 1998 when he joined the PDP, till 2016 when political exigencies drove him out of the party, he has conducted himself as a bridge-builder and a conscious networker in and out of the party and politics.
“His humility, uncommon large-heartedness and generosity, palpable political dexterity and convincing demonstration of political sportsmanship have ensured his wide acceptance within a short period of his return to the party he helped uphold its umbrella for 18 years.
“We are thankful for this uncommon show of love and trust which we, at the Alfred Agboola Ajayi Campaign Organisation (3ACO), have enjoyed across the 18 local governments during our statewide tour and assure you that we will never take it for granted.”
